The Wilted Rose

The Wilted Rose is a short film about a woman attempting to leave an abusive relationship. The award winning script was produced in support of Logan based Domestic Violence organisation, The Centre for Women & Co.

Join us during Domestic and Family Violence Month for the premiere screening of The Wilted Rose, followed by a Q&A with panellists that include Logan-based director Elise Lamb and Centre for Women CEO Stacey Ross.

Hon Shannon Fentiman, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, will deliver opening remarks at 6.15pm. The screening will commence at 6.30pm in the Butterbox Theatre followed by the Q&A at 6.45pm. Enjoy the Cultural Precinct’s other offerings throughout the evening including a Wilted Rose art installation and the Milky Way Markets live music and food trucks.

The Wilted Rose was written and directed by Elise Lamb and stars Kirsty Sturgess (North Shore coming to Paramount Plus, Thirteen Lives, and Young Rock), Matt Scully (House of Cards and Terra Nova), and Pacharo Mzembe (Nautilus coming to Disney+, Love and Monsters on Netflix).

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Centre for Womens’ work in the Logan community.

The Wilted Rose and Q&A has a runtime of 1 hour and includes depictions and descriptions of abuse, violence, and coarse language. Viewer discretion is especially advised for victims of domestic violence and abuse. This is an 18+ event.

Earlier in the day, the precinct will be hosting the Milky Way Markets with food trucks from 5pm + live music on the outdoor stage featuring Geniie Boy and Alvin.
